Favicon Generator
Generate favicon and app-icon PNGs in every size from one image. Free, private and 100% in your browser — no uploads.
🔒 Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploadedCreate a favicon from any image
A favicon is the little icon shown in browser tabs, bookmarks and on phone home screens. This generator takes one square image and produces crisp PNG icons in every size modern sites need — from the 16×16 tab icon to the 512×512 progressive-web-app icon — entirely in your browser.
Drop in a logo and you'll see a live preview of each size, ready to download individually. We
also generate the exact <link> tags to paste into your page's
<head>, so wiring up your favicon takes seconds.
Tips for sharp icons
Start from a square image of at least 512×512 pixels. Bold, simple shapes with strong contrast remain recognizable when scaled down to 16 pixels, whereas fine detail and small text turn to mush. Test the 16×16 preview — if you can still tell what it is, you've got a great favicon.
Which size is used where
- 16×16 and 32×32 — browser tabs, bookmarks and address bars.
- 48×48 and 64×64 — desktop shortcuts and some search-result and site-list icons.
- 128×128 — larger store and extension-style listings.
- 180×180 — the Apple touch icon used when a page is added to an iPhone or iPad home screen.
- 192×192 and 512×512 — Android home-screen and progressive web app icons listed in a web app manifest.
Good to know
Each image is scaled straight to a square, so use a square source; a rectangular logo would be
stretched. Transparency is kept in the PNG files, but iOS does not display transparent touch icons
well, so a solid background is a safer choice for the 180×180 version. The files are named like
favicon-32x32.png, which matches the generated snippet, so keep those names when you
copy them to your site root. This page produces PNG files only; if you also want a classic
favicon.ico, create one from your source image with the PNG to ICO converter.
Adding the icons to your site
Download the sizes you need, place them in the public root of your site and paste the generated
<link> tags into the <head>. If you build a web app manifest,
point its icons list at the 192×192 and 512×512 files. After deploying, search engines and browsers
can take a while to refresh a cached favicon, so test in a private window and do not be alarmed if
the old icon lingers for a day or two.
