Resize Image
Resize images online by pixels or percentage while keeping the aspect ratio. Free, private and fully in your browser — no uploads.
🔒 Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploadedResize any image in your browser
Whether you need to fit an upload limit, create a thumbnail or match an exact pixel size for a profile photo, resizing is one of the most common image tasks. This image resizer lets you set a new width or height in pixels and downloads the result instantly — without ever uploading your picture.
Keep Lock aspect ratio enabled (the default) and you only need to enter one dimension; the other adjusts automatically so the image never looks stretched. Turn it off when you need an exact size and don't mind distortion. The resize is done with high-quality canvas smoothing for sharp, clean results.
Pixels vs percentage
Use pixels when a platform demands a precise size (for example a 400×400 avatar). Think in percentage when you just want "half as big" — set the width to half the original number shown. Downscaling produces crisp images; avoid enlarging small images too much, as there's no hidden detail to recover.
Output format and quality
The resized image keeps your file type: a JPG or JPEG stays a JPG (saved at 92% quality), and anything else, including PNG, WebP or GIF sources, is saved as a PNG. Transparent PNG areas stay transparent. The original width and height appear when you load the file, which makes it easy to calculate a new size. Only the first file you drop is used.
Practical resizing tips
- Reduce the size in a single step from the original rather than repeatedly shrinking a copy.
- For sharp screens, export at twice the display size, for example 800 pixels wide for a 400 pixel slot.
- Resizing changes dimensions, not compression settings. To reduce the file size further, run the result through the image compressor.
- With the ratio lock turned off, entering both values can stretch the picture. Check the preview in your target app.
Common target sizes
Typical requirements include 1920 pixels wide for full-screen web banners, around 1200 pixels for blog and social preview images, 512 or 400 pixels for avatars, and 150 to 300 pixels for thumbnails. Check the exact limit on the platform you are uploading to, enter the size and keep the ratio lock on so the proportions stay correct. Everything is calculated on your device, so there is no upload delay and no copy of the picture is stored anywhere.
How to use
- Add an imageDrop a PNG or JPG onto the box.
