Crop images for any layout

A good crop turns a general photo into an image that fits a specific job. You might need a square profile picture, a portrait product image, a wide blog header, a vertical story frame or a custom rectangle for a design mockup. This image cropper gives you both freedom and speed: draw a crop box by dragging on the preview, move it over the part of the image you want to keep, and export only that area as a fresh file.

The cropper runs entirely in the browser. Your original image is loaded into memory, displayed on a canvas and cropped locally when you press download. There is no upload step, so drafts, screenshots, unreleased campaign art and personal photos stay private. The preview is scaled for comfortable editing, but the export uses the original pixels whenever possible, which preserves detail better than cropping a small screenshot of the preview.

Aspect ratios and social sizes

Presets help avoid accidental wrong dimensions. Free crop is best when the final size does not matter. The 1:1, 4:5, 16:9 and 9:16 presets lock the shape while you drag, which is useful for feeds, banners and vertical videos. The Instagram post, Instagram story and YouTube thumbnail presets also export to common pixel sizes, so the downloaded image is ready to use in many publishing workflows without another resize step.

PNG or JPG output

Choose PNG when the source has transparency, text, UI graphics or sharp edges. Choose JPG for normal photos when you want a smaller file and do not need transparency. If a transparent image is saved as JPG, the cropper fills those transparent pixels with white because JPG cannot store an alpha channel. For best results, crop from the highest-resolution source available, keep important faces or products away from the crop edge, and preview the final framing before downloading.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Choose square Instagram post, vertical story or YouTube thumbnail presets to keep the right aspect ratio and export size.
Does cropping upload my image?
No. The image is decoded and cropped with a browser canvas on your device only.
Can I save JPG instead of PNG?
Yes. PNG keeps transparency if the source has it, while JPG is smaller for photos and fills transparent pixels with white.
What does Free crop mean?
Free crop lets you draw any rectangle. Aspect presets lock the crop shape while you drag or move it.
