That is perfect for design systems and websites, but some apps, marketplaces, email tools and document workflows ask for a PNG instead. The whole process is local. Your browser creates an object URL for the SVG, loads it into an image element, draws it onto a canvas and exports the canvas as PNG. No server sees the file, so unpublished logos, client artwork and internal diagrams stay private. Because the output is generated on your device, conversion is quick even for small batches of design assets.

How to choose an output size

Pick the width based on where the PNG will be used. For a website icon that displays at 256 pixels on high-density screens, exporting at 512 pixels gives a sharper result. For social media, app stores or print handoff, follow the pixel dimensions requested by that platform. The tool keeps the SVG aspect ratio automatically. If the file does not declare a width and height, it reads the viewBox; if that is missing too, it falls back to a square canvas so you can still make a useful export.

SVG and PNG each have a role

Keep SVG as your editable master whenever possible. It remains small, scalable and easy to recolor in design or code. Use PNG when you need fixed pixels, compatibility with software that cannot render SVG, or a simple transparent image for a document. Once exported, enlarging the PNG will not recreate vector detail, so convert again at a larger width if you later need a bigger version.
