TIFF is a high-quality format used by scanners, cameras and print workflows. The files are huge, and most browsers, phones and websites cannot open them. This TIFF to JPG converter turns a .tif or .tiff file into a normal JPG that you can email, post or upload anywhere, in a fraction of the size.
The conversion is completely local. A small JavaScript decoder reads the TIFF in your browser, paints it on a canvas and saves it as JPG at the quality you choose. No server ever sees the image, which matters for scanned documents, medical images and unpublished photos.
Choosing quality and background
A quality of 90% keeps nearly all detail while cutting the size dramatically; go lower for web use or higher for archival copies. Because JPG cannot store transparency, any transparent area in the TIFF is filled with the background color you pick, white by default.
When to keep the TIFF
TIFF is lossless and supports layers, many color modes and high bit depths. JPG is lossy
and always 8-bit. Keep the original TIFF for editing, printing and archiving, and use the JPG for
sharing. You can select several files at once: a single file downloads directly, and several are bundled
into one ZIP in which each JPG keeps the original name with a .jpg extension. Unusual TIFF variants, such as some CMYK or heavily compressed files,
may not be readable; if that happens, re-save the file from your image editor as a standard TIFF.
Many TIFFs hold more than one image, such as extra pages or a small preview thumbnail. The converter picks the largest image stored in the file, which is normally the full-resolution first page, so you never end up with a tiny preview by mistake. Files that cannot be read are skipped and listed instead of stopping the batch. Need PNG or WebP rather than JPG? The image converter reads TIFF too, and the image compressor can shrink the resulting JPG further when a website imposes a strict upload limit.
