Put captions, titles and labels on any picture

Adding text to an image is one of the most common small editing jobs: a title on a blog header, a caption on a meme, a price on a product photo, a date on an invitation or a label on a diagram. Opening a full photo editor for that is slow. This add text to image tool lets you type your words, style them and drag them into place directly on the picture. Each piece of text is a separate layer, so you can combine a big headline with a smaller subtitle, or label several parts of a screenshot, and edit any of them later until you download the final image.

Styling options that keep text readable

Choose a font from the system fonts available on most computers and phones, set the size in real image pixels, pick a colour and alignment, and turn on bold or italic. Text on a busy photo is often hard to read, so there are three ways to make it stand out: an outline (stroke) around every letter, a soft shadow with adjustable colour and blur, and a semi-transparent background box behind the text. Multi-line text is supported — press Enter in the text box — and the rotation slider tilts a layer anywhere from −180° to 180°. The default size scales with the image, so text starts readable on both small and very high-resolution photos.

Export and privacy

The finished picture is rendered at the full original resolution, not the smaller preview, so the text stays sharp. Export as PNG for lossless quality and transparency, JPG for compact photos, or WebP for modern web use; the quality slider applies to JPG and WebP. Everything runs locally with the HTML Canvas API. Your image is never uploaded, there is no sign-up and no watermark, and metadata from the original file, such as GPS location, is not copied into the download.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?
No. The text is drawn onto a canvas in your browser and the new image is created on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
Can I add more than one text?
Yes. Click “+ Add text” for each caption. Pick a layer from the list or click it on the image to edit it, and drag it to move it.
Which fonts can I use?
The list contains common system fonts such as Arial, Georgia, Impact and Courier New plus generic families. If a font is not installed on your device, the browser uses a similar fallback.
Which format should I export?
PNG is lossless and keeps transparency. JPG gives small files for photos (transparent areas become white). WebP is small and supports transparency in modern browsers.
