Round the corners of any image

Rounded corners make thumbnails, avatars, app screenshots and cards look softer and more modern. This round corners tool clips an image to a rounded rectangle and makes the area outside the curve fully transparent, so the result drops cleanly onto any background. Drag a single slider to control how round the corners are, from a barely-there 4px softening to a full circle, and preview the change live before exporting.

The whole process runs locally in your browser. Your image is decoded onto a canvas, a rounded rectangle path is used as a clip mask, and the visible pixels are re-drawn into a transparent canvas that exports as PNG. Nothing is uploaded, so private screenshots, product shots and profile pictures stay on your device. Because PNG preserves an alpha channel, the transparent corners remain transparent wherever you place the image afterwards.

Choosing a radius

The radius is measured in pixels of the original image. A subtle UI card might use 12 to 24 pixels, while a friendly app icon could use 80 or more. To turn a square photo into a circle, set the radius to half of the image width. The slider is capped so it never exceeds half the shortest side, which prevents the corners from overlapping and keeps the shape clean at every setting.

Where rounded images shine

Use rounded images for website hero cards, blog thumbnails, testimonial avatars, store product tiles and presentation slides. Because the export is a transparent PNG, you can layer it over colors, gradients or photos without a visible box around it. If you later need a solid background instead, drop the PNG into a converter and flatten it onto the color you want.

Export notes

The output keeps the full width and height of your source and is saved as a PNG named after the original file. A large radius can make the file look like a circle or pill shape, but the canvas stays rectangular, with transparent pixels filling the corners. Some upload forms and chat apps convert PNG to JPG, which would replace that transparency with a solid color, so check how your destination handles transparent images first.

Quick checklist

  • Increase the slider until the corners look right in the live preview.
  • Use half the shorter side for a circle or pill.
  • Download the PNG and place it on a colored background to confirm the corners are transparent.

How to use

  1. Add an imageDrop a PNG, JPG or WebP onto the box.

Frequently asked questions

What format is the result?
Always PNG, because the area outside the rounded corners is transparent and only PNG keeps that transparency.
Is the radius in pixels?
Yes. The slider sets the corner radius in pixels of the original image, so a larger image needs a larger radius for the same visual roundness.
Can I make a circle or pill shape?
Yes. Push the radius up to half of the shortest side and a square becomes a circle, or a rectangle becomes a pill.
Does it upload my image?
No. Rounding is done entirely with a browser canvas on your device.
