Tips for good results

Save as PNG to avoid any quality loss, especially for screenshots and line art. Choose JPG for smaller photo files; transparent areas then become white. Transparency is preserved: only the red, green and blue channels flip while the alpha channel stays the same, so a logo on a transparent background remains transparent when saved as PNG or WebP. Browsers that cannot encode WebP, such as Safari, save a PNG instead and tell you. The image is processed at full resolution, so the download has exactly the same pixel dimensions as the original. To fine-tune brightness or contrast afterwards, open the result in photo filters, or make it monochrome with the black and white converter.
